NEWS & NOTES FOR 2007
(posted 12/29/2006)
We've been receiving a lot of requests for information about the release of the next DSB record, touring plans, TV appearances, etc., and while we'd love to share that information with all of you, the truth is…we don't really have a clue. You may, in fact, know more than we do. We wrapped up our 2006 touring season in mid-November with an awesome string of shows throughout the midwest and east coast and have been busy working on new material in our dirty, filthy little basement studio ever since…some of us haven't seen the light of day in over a month, so be patient and check back every once in a while as we'll be trying our best to keep everyone up to date. And thanx to everyone who came out to support us in 2006!! We love you all!

MORE DATES WITH SHOOTER JENNINGS!  (posted 10/26/2006)
As if we haven't seen enough of the two-lane blacktop this year, we'll
all be jumping back in the van for some more shows next month. It is our
pleasure to announce that a majority of these shows will be with our pal Shooter
Jennings. We were fortunate enough to meet Shooter and his band, the 357's, on
the road earlier this summer and we really appreciate the opportunity that
they've provided for us…thanx guys and see you in Boston! We'll also be playing the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC once again, so check our shows page for a complete listing of dates!

ROD STEWART: BLIND SINCE BIRTH  (posted 10/10/2006)
Ok, so…we've been spending a lot of time over in the UK for the past
few years and while we learn something new almost every time we travel there,
we're super proud to announce that our latest excursion to England has revealed the
astounding fact that everyone's favorite spiky-haired vocalist, Rod Stewart…has
been blind since birth.  Yes sir!…it came as a shock to us as well, but after thinking about it…it makes a lot sense. Big thanx to Patrick and Jeff for the insightful playing and increasing our understanding of the British Empire!!

WOW! IT'S BEEN A WHILE!  (posted 08/19/2006)
A while indeed!…We've been runnin' all over the damn planet as of late and, while it's true that most hotels provide internet access for their guests, updating the website ranks kinda low on our list of priorities whilst on the road. Coming in much higher on our list of priorities are things such as "finding the venue", "working the crowd" and "getting paid."  Anyway, we're back in our hometown of Detroit for a few weeks, so we thought we'd give everyone an update of what we've been doing for the past four or five months.

After SXSW we spent some more time in Ireland and the UK where we were all suprised to find that they still insist on driving on the opposite side of the road. Hats off to all the folks we met at the Kilkenny Rhythm n' Roots Festival in Ireland. Surely one of the best times we've had in that part of the world. While in the UK we were also fortunate enough to recruit steel guitar whiz kid Spencer Cullum into the ranks as our newest (and youngest) member. The 2006 Summer US tour kicked off immediately after the UK trip (we flew straight to St. Louis to start it) and found us driving our asses off for about seven weeks straight. Lots of ups and downs on this tour, as one could imagine, but it was damn productive overall. Festivals in St. Louis, Ottawa, Chatanooga and Asheville, North Carolina were super rad, as were the dates we did with Shooter Jennings. We'd like to thank Shooter and his entire crew for making those shows a memorable (despite the moonshine) event that we're sure to cherish for some time!

Thanx to all the new fans and friends we made on these last few tours.
What you have to say is important to us, so feel free to drop us a line at
deadstringbrothers@deadstringbrothers.com anytime you feel so inclined. We don't always have time to respond to all the emails we get, but rest assured that they are all read and appreciated!

We'll be home for the next few weeks recording some new material and keeping in
touch with friends and family. Check back soon for fall tour dates in both the US and UK!!!!

2006 SXSW TOUR REVIEW

Big thanx are once again in order for everyone who came out to support the band on our latest trek across this ridiculously large country of ours. It is of our opinion that a majority of the states we passed through could be made much smaller, greatly reducing the amount of time we spend stuck in a van with each other. Hey Pennsylvania!…take a lesson from Delaware!…even your name is too long.

Despite the exhausting drives, communicable illness and general lack of sleep, we all had a pretty spectacular time playing our music for people, meeting celebrities and staying up past our allotted bedtimes.Thanx to the folks at all the radio stations and record stores who were foolish enough to let us into their buildings. And thanx to all the promoters and soundmen/women who made our jobs easier by enjoying theirs. Special thanx must also go out to all the folks at Bloodshot for making our 2006 SXSW experience one of the best that we've had so far.

We'll be off to the UK for a few weeks and then back here in the states to finish what we started. Check back soon for new pics from the last tour as well as new Summer 2006 US dates!!

2006 SXSW TOUR
We're currently in the process of booking a tour in support of our February 21st release of Starving Winter Report. The tour will be dragging us down to
Austin, Texas
once again for this year's South by Southwest Music Festival. We'll be adding dates and venues as they're confirmed, so check our SHOWS page for updated information…

2005 FALL UK TOUR REVIEW
Thanx to everyone who came out to see the band on our latest tour of the United Kingdom. It was great to see some of our old pals across the Atlantic again…and cheers to all the new friends we made this time around!! We played with some really great acts and we'd like to thank the following for making those respective shows thoroughly enjoyable for all involved: Redlands Palomino Co., James Summerfield, Gina Villalobos, Christopher ReesLone Pine and Mike Ferrio from Tandy. Check these artists out when you get a chance…you won't be disappointed. And once again, ultra big thanx to all the very special people that work behind the scenes to make it possible for us to do what we do. You are all greatly appreciated!!

"STARVING WINTER REPORT" RELEASED IN THE UK AND EUROPE!!
That's right kiddies!! On October 3rd, the new album, "Starving Winter Report", will be available for purchase in the United Kingdom and Europe. This release pre-dates the US release of the record by several months, so consider yourself lucky if you live in that part of the world. To find out more, visit our friends at Evangeline Recorded Works at www.evangeline.co.uk.

DEADSTRING BROTHERS SIGN WITH BLOODSHOT RECORDS!!
We are pleased to announce that the band has signed a new recording contract with the folks over at Bloodshot Records. As progenitors of the insurgent country movement, Bloodshot has always championed the music that lurks between genres and we, as a band, could't be more happy to be a part of their ongoing legacy of like-minded artists. Look for our first Bloodshot release entitled "Starving Winter Report" to be available in the UK later this year followed by a US release sometime in early 2006.
